going back to your 1st post... £50??!!!

Yup. Nearly all of the classes available throughout Bristol are block booked in 6 week blocks and cost £50. I guess if one of them charges that much and gets that much, then the others would be daft to take less but it is madness Shocked

Well... not really.... well to me it depends on how many are in the class. The only trouble with pay as you go classes can be class size. Manageable one rainy week, overflowing the next, but if it works for you, sounds great so far!

6 weeks is 6 hours of training for £50.... does that REALLY sound a lot? Thats the instructor, after hiring the hall/field etc getting probably about a fiver per dog per week. I'm not really sure that is so terrible a guy has to make a living surely?

Fair shouts, Di, but it does price it out of what I can afford to spend each week Sad

No fair enough.... I do totally understand that, but I really don't know how some trainers who charge £2.00 or so a class make a living. Possibly they do just do it as a little hobby for love, as such. Or they have 15 in a class I suppose! Wink

With prices, I think it also depends on the area, i live in a fairly rural part of Wales and things definately are cheaper here (apart from diesel and petrol)than in the bigger towns and cities, for example when we lived in Chelmsford, Essex, i had a quote from my vets there to get my dog neutered would cost me £45..this was 6 yrs ago mind, however i got him done back here in Wales and registered him with my mum's vet and got him done for £16!!!!! Saying that, prices have gone up..i paid £50 last yr to get our rabbit neutered... Shocked

I'm not sure how it pans out for our new trainer with the PAYG class, but she has (apparently) anything between 4 and 9 at a time. I'm not sure what she'd do if more than that turned up, but she says that's the maximum she's ever had arrive.

She is attached to the vets (where the training barn and paddock is) so I guess she gets an awful lot of referrals and she's definitely full-time as she runs several different classes throughout the day nearly every day of the week, so maybe our PAYG class is just "a bit on the side" Wink
