Yep, very I'd say, considering the amount of grease you get off them.

Others may say no, but they have always made my dogs put on weight, even if they are only the tiny rolled ones.

Hi I would agree with Jules on Pigs Ears and Hide Chews. Does your dog enjoy carrots or apples? I know they contain some natural sugars but can take a while to eat for distraction technique! They're certainly less fattening I think.(The pips are supposed to be toxic in large amounts but I admit to not taking them out of Lottie's apple treats all the time!)

We have been here, read the book and got the t-shirt...and have eventually got to a good weight that is sustainable.

We changed from JWB after Lexi was speyed and tried a variety of diet foods etc, we weighed in at 25 ish Kg and now are at 23kg...doesn't sound much but the difference in how she looks is incredible.

She gets 80g Burns High Oats twice a day. Some biscuits at bed time a raw hide chew now and again, an apple now and again and a raw bone when we can get them. We walk for a minimum of an hour a day, a mixture of free running and lead work and Lexi is a plodder when she isn't out with other dogs.

If i had to do it again, i would cut out any treats that aren't natural ie. carrot and apples etc... I would change her food to a light version of a good quality food and I would slowly increase her excercise of get her more active when she is out.

There was a thread a while ago about something similar and I can't for the life of me find it now, but one really good ideas was walking up hills, or if Eva likes to play ball you throw the ball up an incline and stand at the bottom. We are lucky that we have just the right sort of mini hills and slopes to play this game on and combined with swimming daily this really did shift the weight.

Good luck and keep us posted and don't forget to drop by if you need some encouragement, I really do know how hard it is, but it will be worth it.

Thanks for everybody's help

Eva has now been on her new diet and walking plan and i must say it is working absolutly fab!!

I know its only been a short amount of time but she looks trimmer! I haven't weighed her but i'v going to go by her body condition and i must say she is looking great.

I have cut down on all treats, i give her treats during training and the occasional dentastix - but very rare! and once the box of dentastix have gone i will be buying not more.

Thanks for the advice on her food, i think i will be changing for bakers maybe go onto james wellbeloved or something simular.

Eva isn't a big fruit or vegetable boggy, she likes to sometime munch on my rabbits vegetable (but i think thats more that fact she doesn't want to be left out Smile )

I have tried my hardest to take her for three walks a day and she is loving it, also i am getting up earlier during the week so i can take her to the park before i have to leave for college. She seems much happier for it (even tho im a bit more sleepy at the end of the day Smile )

Eva has seem to gone of her pig ears so now more of those....and what iv done with her rawhide chews is i'v cut them all up into smaller pieces so she's only getting a little bit at a time instead of a massive bit.

Once Eva's a bit trimmer i will post before and after pictures.

Thanks again everybody for all of your advice.
