So proud of my Happy bear, we only did 2 runs as it got too hot and Happy just went very flat, also my folks and OH were there too and I didn't want to have them waiting around forever!
BAA Show at Perrywood Sports Ground, Surrey. Judge - June Bass
Introductory Agility - 32 in class of all sizes.
Started with Jump - A frame - Long Jump - Tunnel - Dog Walk - Followed by 10(?) Jumps.
We were running on Maxi height which was a worry as we've only really done 2 classes at training at that height, we've only ever practiced on medium.. however..
We didn't knock the 1st one down, so that was good! However Happy flew up the A frame and then jumped off BEFORE contact.. arrghh.. she's never done that! Never mind, just carried on! She slipped coming out of the tunnel as it was a bit wet bless her but got up and flew up the dog walk, all good on there and then we whizzed round the jumps (I have forgotten how many there were!) It was quite a straight forward route so I was chuffed I didn't have to fit in and reverse turns or twiddles round!
She went so well and we finished with a time of 30.08 which was quite respectable apparently, just annoyed at the missed contact, my fault for not enforcing it, I just never expected her to miss it... You live and learn!
Anyway, results in and with only 5 faults we finished 5th out of 12 in Maxi size category and 16th out of 32 in the main lot, so well pleased to be middle of the road and obviously not eliminated either!!
2nd run was Jump and Touch so a series of 12 jumps which if you weren't eliminated then you went onto the contact equipment of Jump - A Frame - Seesaw - Tunnel - Dog Walk
Jumps were a bit tricky with 2 kind of clockwise movements doubling up on the same jumps (if that makes sense!) and a couple of traps. Happy was quite panty when we started as it had got warm but started well, we did the first clockwise bit but as the jumps were quite quickly after one another she couldn't get the run up on one and knocked it down, but carrying on she went well of the rest, didn't fall for the traps and we finished with 5 faults but not eliminated so went onto contact stuff. She did really well over this as we took it steady and we finished with just 5 faults again for the knocked down pole!
So that was that, the first one done and I loved it! We didn't stay long after that so I didn't get the results for the 2nd run but I'm obviously under no great illusion that we got anywhere near to the top!!
We did order some photo's of the day though so we have something to remember it by and my OH took some video, so when he's loaded it I'll pop it on here!
Thanks again to everyone for your good luck messages!
Edited to add link on facebook page of video! You DONT have to be a member of Facebook to look at it as its availbale to everyone I think!!)
It sounds like you and Happy had a great time. George had his first proper agility class this afternoon and we are both pooped, I didn't realise how much I would have to do too Lots of luck for your next comp
I would have been totally chuffed with results like that at the show we went to last weekend-10 eliminations in 11 courses Though the one we didn't get eliminated in, we came 2nd
Anyway, again, well done, and look forward to seeing the videos

You and Happy look fantastic!!! What a fantastic first show and fantastic results too!!
Luna will fly off a contact when I least expect it as she is generally really reliable!!
It wasn't a good day for a lab to have a fast run with all that humidity!! Luna would have wilted too!!
And your judge June is our trainer (so no training for us tomorrow )and whilst she sets horrendously wicked training courses (so that everything is easy in the comp ring! - her theory!) her comp courses are generally pretty friendly ... HOWEVER, you can guarantee Loon and I will mess up under the pressure of her watching us!!!
Well done again and give me and Loon a shout if you're hooked enough to head up to the EMDAC shows!
