What were they thinking leaving the dog outside a shop for 2 hours? They'd have to have a good excuse - like being taken to hospital themselves - to get away with that one surely, it's so hot at the moment poor dog. Glad you're there to help.
everyone knows everyone round here and nobody recognised him... he might have made his way to the shop on his own (in a residential area). At least he was safe overnight.
I _ AM _ GOING _ TO _ SCREAM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
no enquiries about this boy (who has been named George at the kennels) so I have just rung the dog warden service to find out the process if he is not claimed.
1) The dog warden is off this week....... there is no dog warden in this area, the nearest one is in the North of the County. What a brilliant service for an area which depends a lot on tourism over bank holiday weekends for income!
2) There is no record of George on the database!!!!!!!!!! Now I was the one who rang him in, the lady I spoke to was typing away in the background as I gave her his details including the telephone number of the kennels where he was taken for safety....... The lady today just kept saying if the DW had been aware he would have picked the dog up and taken him to their holding kennels! Then said that as I rang Thursday if could be the DW did not even get the message before the Bank Holiday! She is going to get the DW from the North of the Area to ring me (she says) - I hope they do not then start George on a fresh 7 day period! She kept saying he would have to be moved to "their" kennels (which for various reasons would not be great for him.)
She did say she was checking and there was no notice of a missing lab.
I am completely disgusted by all this as if someone had been looking for him that is now 6 days when we thought there was a record and apparently there has not been one!!!
All the "lady" kept saying today was that George must have been abandoned...... hello!!!!! This Ceredigion Animal Rescue you are speaking to .... we had managed to come to that conclusion when nobody contacted us by phone or by calling into the shop (just round the corner from where he was "lost").......
Nice dog warden from the North has rung. Happy for us to continue caring for the old boy until the end of the week and then look for a home for him rather than him being transferred to different kennels just as he is feeling more confident. He confirmed no records of a lost lab. (and he is going to email me to confirm everything so no comeback on us!!)
