What kind of vggies would you mince and add to the natures instinct?
Natural Instinct 'the brand' comes in 3 varieties - Natural Instinct, Banquet and Pure. Natural Instinct and Banquet varieties already have pulped fruit and veges added and are nutritionally complete. I add a bit of sweet potato to the Natural Instinct Lamb variety for Beau, only because on this one only, he gets a bit constipated (from the bone content). If I was feeding the Pure meat/bone minces, my 'to add' list of vege/fruits would include potato, sweet potato, carrot, butternut squash, brocoli, peas, green beans, apple, blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, strawberries, kiwi, pineapple, apricot, mango, nectarine, peach, banana ... I would add these in various combinations of 3, e.g. sweet potato + peas + blueberries, in a 70:30 ratio of meat/bone:vege/fruit. I don't use the Pure minces as I would need to portion up the packs - as it happens, a 400g pack of a Natural Instinct or Banquet variety is exactly the right amount per meal, so no need to portion up and fridge/re-freeze, or add anything extra.
Have been following the raw feed dialogue and done a bit of detective work on Basil's and the Wiltshire connection. Seems that the wholesale butchers who manufatured for Darlings have parted company non too amicably, and have started up in competition hence much cheaper! Will be sticking with Basil's for now as long as it remains competitive. The 500gm packs last Bertie for 2 days and cost £1.66 each (=83p/day if my maths correct!). Using the dry food as well keeps the cost down, although I am tempted to go all out on raw as he loves it so much.

I am sooo jealous! We just don't have the room for a second freezer for raw dog food, but we would love to feed them on a BARF diet. I'll be watching this with interest though for when/if we manage it in the future.
