Phoned the K.C. the following day just to check that we had done it right, and they confirmed that this was, in fact, correct. They actually appeared surprised that there had been any confusion over this......and took the line,"Well, it's obvious, isn't it? The pup didn't exceed 12 months".
Have myself shown in Puppy Class at an all breed champ show with a pup that was 12 months and 2 days old, because the entry requirement was "not exceeding 12 months of age on the first day of the show", and my pup was 12 months old on that first day of the show.

That's how I looked at it...

Three day show, one day show, not exceeding 12 months of age on the first day of that show... Being 12 months on 'the' day of the show i thought as allowed.

Not sure of the rules but that is how I looked at it..

I'd try the KC before Champdogs... just personally.

If your boy is a year on the day of the show, all is well. If it were a two day show and he was two on the first day of the show, and you wanted to show him in Puppy on the second day, all is not well.

Well when I was a show sec thats how I understood it and allowed entries in according with.

That's very useful to know Very Happy

It really does seem to be down to individual societies and the secretary's interpretation of the rules Sad

The show where all the ruckus blew up - one exhibitor had a copy of the rule book which backs up what you are saying - and the secretary would not back down - don't want to say too much on a public forum as it isn't fair on the owner or others involved - but the situation got extremely heated and the dog was not permitted to show in the BPIS line up

So... we have written confirmation from the KC!!

Dear Clare,

Vide the Regulations, if your puppy is exactly 12 calendar months of age on the first day of the show it is eligible for puppy class still. It is only if it exceeds 12 calendar months that it cannot enter puppy.

Kind regards,

Kathryn

If anyone would like me to forward the email for future reference, let me know Very Happy
