Arr, but this argument has gone on since the dawn of the breed Steve. There was an article in the scrap books of the late H Reginald Cooke to the effect of "Fat" show dogs, and this was in 1910. Also mentioned in Miriam Kinsella's book, written in the 50's, was a conversation complaining about "Whippety" trials dogs.
But as a little aside, there was a debate in 1925 about the merits of docking the Retriever breeds! It was reported in the Kennel Gazette that "This practise is manifestly unfair to exhibitors who show their dogs. . . . . ." So just think what might have happened!!
