Hi there, it always takes a while to settle into any new system, so its not suprising that to begin with there will be a few tweeks.
The original reason for splitting the breeding section was to give an area for the threads about 'My bitch is pregnant/my boy about to become a father/Look at my very lovely puppies just born...' The threads that had caused some a little concern in recent months/years to some.
So, really everything else breeding orientated would be appreciated if you could post it in the Breeding Q & A section. Obviously its entirely up to individual choice, but there are some very generally useful threads at the minute in the Members only Section, which may be of huge interest to non members.
I realise that confusion on what *is* and *isn't* allowed may be at the root of that, but please can we make it clear once more that only blatent adverts are not allowed on LF. Being proud of your puppies etc is perfectly acceptable! But anything that isn't 'here are my babies/I'd like to announce that babies on the way....!!' would be HUGELY appreciated in Breeding Q & A for open viewing.
EDITED: Just ALSO to clarify, we are VERY happy for Hip/Elbow/DNA healthtest results to be announced with pride on the Breeding Q&A section. It doesn't have to quietly lurk here in the Members section. Honest. Our feeling was, and we hope you agree, that showing that sensible responsible members test for these conditions will create any newcomers who didn't know/wasn't going to bother testing, to have a rethink. And maybe ask questions........
Thanks a million.

Not sure I entirely agree with this bit as now it sounds like it is ok to brag on an Open Forum about your potential stud dog having great hip scores, but not to talk about your bitch having a litter? I sort of get your logic, but not!!!
Fully support the 'wanting to encourage people to understand health testing bit' but think all 'bragging' and lovely 'showy offy' posts should be done in the Members bit, and then no-one need breach that 'no advertising rule', which is open to misinterpretation.
And then the Breeders Q&A to be just what the title says: a chance to ask and discuss all issues relating to breeding (and no bragging!).
Just my personal opinion, and am not deeply offended if no-one else agrees!
Laura, it was a point of some debate in the staff room Some agreed with you, some didn't, I said I was happy either way and asked the others to take a vote and it came out this way So it was democratic
Point entirely taken about if you are trying to be sly, either way litter announcement or health results bragging, you WILL be 'future advertising' but the litter announcement was the one that caused all the upheaval a few weeks ago and is also a LOT more 'instant' really.... So is the one we have to assume folks want 'sorting'.
The view being, as mentioned and that 99% of those posting results of their GIRLS won't have a second agenda for a long time afterwards, and those posting boy results MOSTLY won't, and if they did its a long road to finding a mate for most. If any were blatently advertising, which is all LF is against, such as 'Look at my super black boy (carrying chocolate) his temperment is GREAT and his hips have just come back 2:3, wouldn't you love him for your girl he wants to be a daddy so bad'!! Or whatever - huge grin... - then they will be swiped out anyway instantly.
If people take the Michael somehow, or it causes huge disrest then changes are always possible. It always HAS been public and not caused any problems in the past. Hopefully that will continue....

Laura, don't worry at all, its all new changes, of course there will be some misunderstanding and noone is saying folks CAN'T post informative threads in the Members only, to be honest, its just it would be preferred they didn't so this remains a informative, interesting website to all visitors not just members.
It wasn't just your thread anyway, there are four or five that would be great in the Q&A, but of course we won't move them, because the writers may wish them to remain in Members only, and indeed *not* have posted there in miscomprehension of what should go where.

Thanks Di, like I said, I'm really not too concerned one way or the other, but it just occurred to me that "Breeding Q&A" was a bit of a misnomer in that case! and that it might be clearer to just keep it to questions and information, and braggy stuff elsewhere!
PS - totally off topic....! Has that pup of yours come out yet?! It must be dangerously close now?
Yes further chat is taking place as we speak in MI5 headquarters.... You make some good points....
......
OK, much scratching up is occuring, and breakfast was politely declined by mum.... so Otter is definately somewhere in the building, just still circling, finding a space in the car park

No rule can ever totally cover anything, and if anyone tries they you end up with conditional rules "Except if the party of the first part knows the party of the second part, or if there is an "R" in the month, except when the "R" is in the second syllable." Then no one knows what's allowed. I'm a great believer in keeping it simple, and if that occasionally means a post must be moved, so be it. Very few people actually try to take advantage so I dont think we need a sledghammer here. That was the reason why the decision was made to do things as Di worded it.
