The weaves are a real of an obstacle! I find Loon and I make massive progress and then she decides to try something out to see if I want her to do it - eg, just when I thought we were getting there she started popping out after 6 weaves consitently to see if that was ok... cracked that problem only for her to decide to enter between weaves 2 and 3 rather than 1 and 2, cracked that and she began to speed up then introduced right side weaves and discovered that she would ONLY do right side weaves, we are at the stage that she will do either do right or left side weaves now but will 'tell me off' by barking on right side weaves!!!
Keep me on my toes and videoing is so useful as I see what my position is doing to her!!
I love it when they look down the line of weaves and going for it rather than looking for guidance, think that's when its begun to be 'got'!
And I have another pup here! Staff at new vets asked how old she was and I could see they were swallowing the words ' she'll calm down as she gets older ' when I said almost 3 years old!!!
I wish I could set some weaves up at home to practice with, it feels like we will never get there, unfortunately our garden is all paved. Your two are doing so well, they know what they have to do and I'm sure they will soon be able to do it without much guidance from you.
I have another mini Lab - Coco is 2.5 years old but only 22kg, she is much smaller than most and I'm forever getting asked if she is still a puppy.
Pam - I'm lucky enough to have a client who lets me use her garden for agility practice as I walk her dogs twice a day 5 days a week!!! Our garden is tiny and paved too! WHy don't you find a local park/grassy area and take your poles along (even 6 would be a start) and just do a practice session for half an hour with weaves and left and rights 'go ons' etc?!
aww they look so happy, you inspired me to get my weave poles out this afternoon and it seems Basil has rather forgotten how to do them on his own and has reverted to needing me on one side or t'other again
Nellie is another puplet like Brogie, people often go 'awww a puppy' and then I break the news she's almost two. I have been known to just be vague and say oh she's a year now
