Coco is a small lab and is actually overweight at 22kg - I'd like to get another 1kg off her as she is a little heavy around the waist area. At 22kg most other labs would look like they had been ill-treated.
From your other thread, if she does have worms this could well account for a fuller looking tummy as worms often cause a pot-belly look. Now that she is being treated though this should sort itself out.
I try to keep Luna's weight low ,so around the 25kg mark was my aim, she got chubby last summer when resting and not out and about for various reasons but was 23.8 kg when weighed today!! No wonder she'd sped up around the agility courses and got lots of comments for looking good!
I feed her less than half the recommended amount on the packet for her weight as this allows me to give her leftovers without worry. If she seems to get hungry or starts to look too thin then I adjust her food a little. I've discovered most people think lab=overweight and have had so many people begin to have that conversation with me!
She looks lovely to me... I've just had Bailey weighed at the vets yesterday and he came in at 30.2kgs at coming up to eleven months.
vet said he was in great shape, muscle not fat and it was unusual in labs these days!!! But then she did go on to tell me that they have a client who refer to their lab as a 'house dog'!!!! Know what's that about!!
