The Ommna Ommnas (Shocked) .

Ok that's probably just what we call it here Laughing . But it's that funny, gutteral, almost like a growl but not quite, noise they make when they are relaxed and enjoying a fuss. It's almost like they are Purring with contentment and has nothing to do with aggression, even though to some it probably sounds like it.

oh yes - Indy was very much a purrer - people used to comment on it, it was so loud! When we were waiting for something, like our go at agility, I would "scrunch" his back, he would flop over and start purring! love4
I thought it was just Indy - I've never heard any other of my dogs do it.

Both of mine do the Ommmna Ommmnas -I've never quite known how to describe them - that'll do!! Luna's always done it as she is about to head off to sleep or back to sleep after being woken and Tucker is the same - I've always wondered if it was like an appeasement noise signalling I'm going to sleep - I always join them in the noise!! Very Happy

Thanks for this. We have had, well Tilly has had, a few bouts of dandruff (14 months) normally she has an amazingly shiny coat, so many compliments. So the dandruffy times have been rather alarming, the coat goes dull too. Does it happen when they moult? - she is losing hair ATM. I gave her a few sardines tonight, hoping the dullness would pass quickly. Could it be due to a dry, kibble diet....VERY healthy poos though!

Thanks.

Yes I find when they moult they get dandruffy. I also find when they are excited or stressed they can get dandruffy too.

Mine are both fed dry kibble and get LOTS of comments about their shiny coats so I don't think dry foods=dry skin at all.

Dandruff ALL the time would be worth investigating as it could indicate something else is going on including possibly the food not being right.

Just noticed the yawning threads. Tilly yawns a lot. She does it when she is about to do something she shouldn't, like mouthing your hand, or taking something out of the laundry basket, not realising she has been 'clocked' she goes to do it & then changes her mind suddenly and turns it into a yawn instead and looks at you as if to say: 'Wha'? Wha'? '
