Sadly I had to have my 10 week old puppy Toby put to sleep this morning as he was seriously ill with a congenital intrahepatic liver shunt. I cannot believe I have to write this so shortly after introducing him on this forum. He was with us for less than 2 weeks and I now realise that he had never been normal since the time he first came home. At first I thought it was a reaction to his first inoculation and was reassured both by responses on the forum and my vet, however the symptons got worse as the days went on and he was finally referred to a specialist veterinary hospital on Friday. Although surgery is possible it was felt in his case that the prognosis was not good and euthanasia was felt to be the kindest option. I am feeling really numb now, however know we have made the right decision. At least he is running pain free now at Rainbow Bridge.

RIP Toby xxx

I feel very sorry for you that you have had to make such a decision after having Toby for such a short time, but at least you have saved him any further suffering.

I assume you have contacted his breeder???
