I'm not a huge fan of bulking food out with veg.... its still calories after all. The point is to feed less.... not subsitute one kind of calories for another.

I use steamed veg but that's because we eat them ourselves and I cook extra, Jack will only eat cooked anyway.

Any veg is fine, but Cauliflower, cabbage etc can have the same effects on dogs as in humans...wind Laughing

Cabbage" I never have wind problems with mine, but then, they have been use to the occasional cabbage since puppies.

Runner beans are a hot favourite here. Very few calories and not very wind making either Wink . Root veg have the most calories in, in the form of carbs, so only use them in moderation, if you are trying to slim the dog down.

They need as much as they burn...no more and no less Wink .

I don't think there is an "average" Lab really.

My girls are roughly the same height and do roughly the same amount of exercise (Mojo probably does more actually). Mojo is 3kgs heavier than Pickle, yet I'd say Pickle has about a 1/3 more food than Mojo every day. Neither girls carry any fat, they are just slightly different shapes and obviously burn their food at different rates.

One thing I will say is, I don't think I've ever fed as much as any feeding guide says they should have, not unless they are looking too lean anyway. I reckon Mojo only needs about half what most bags say she should have daily, as she is such a Good Do-er.

I agree with Fee, it's probably you that needs to add the veg, not Loki that *needs* to eat it Wink

What raw food are you feeding that is 100g?

What do you feed for the other meal / treats? What does he weigh and what are you trying to get towards?
