I am brand new to this forum as of a few minutes ago and had logged on to see what food people seem to recommend for my new choc lab Rosie who came to live with us 2 days ago. I thought id have a quick look in here and the first one I click on is this and find she has lots in common with Star. Now I have no idea about pedigrees and im just trying to get my head around this pedigree cert I got with her but her
grandparent is Rocheby Old Smokey
gt grandparents are Rocheby Navy Blue and Ch. Ch. Rocheby Polkadot
gt gt grandparents are Rocheby Sailing By, Cambremer Royal Velvet at Rocheby, Poolstead Pretentious at Rocheby and Sc. Ch. Rocheby Acorn
mine also goes on to give the gt gt gt grandparents too.
I of course have absolutely no idea what it all means so when someone says interesting pedigree I do wonder if thats good or bad
Rosie is a pet but I am interested in learning about her relatives.

Why not start a thread and type up her pedigree - many people start off with their first lab as a pet and then get bitten by the research & often the show and / or working bug.
Rocheby Old Smokey was a well known sire who passed away not that long ago - he produced some fantastic offspring during his time, and I know was the top sire many many times - this of course means you will probably find quite a few relatives
I've got 2 Old Smokey Grand-children - and all the rest apart from my oldest bitch go back to Old Smokey's dad, Rocheby Navy Blue or his dad R Sailing By.
An interesting pedigree is just that - it's certainly not a negative - there are lots of very nice pedigrees about - but interesting ones tend to generate curioisity at times on the thinking behind the breeding further back in the pedigree - the more recent breeding on Star's pedigree is more clear
