My poor Mum had to make the heartbreaking decision today to have her beloved Jago PTS today. He was a lab x collie and would have been 14 on the 7th January. He's had arthritis for a while and his legs had been getting progressively weaker and today, they failed him completely.
Jago was a difficult dog - her was nervous aggressive with people and dogs and bit me on more than one occassion (never badly) but my mum adored him and he adored her. He had his good points though! He loved to bum tuck, was soooooo gentle taking treats from you, gave nice kisses and loved a back scratch. Mum got him a few months after my dad died, making this even harder as she will now be alone. She is beside herself and she will miss him very much.
Poppy though he was great although Jago wasn't so keen on her. Howver, they rubbed along ok when they were together and when mum had Poppy for 2 weeks in September when we were away, they got on pretty well. Here is a photo of the two of them together
So sorry to hear about Jago - what a horrible way for your poor mum to round off the year Run free now, Jago.
Maybe in the future, when she feels ready and if she's in a position to, your mum might be able to get another dog?
xx
Thank you for your kind words. I know it shouldn't really matter, but it is a pretty rotten day for it to happen.
Mum will definately be getting another dog - a rescue. I think she will wait a little while though (months, not years!) as she would like to do a spot of travelling - she wouldn't leave Jago once he was old and wobbly so hasn't been away in a while.
