I must say, I found it difficult showing a min Poodle though. It's a long way down and it kept disappearing from view.

Utilitys are often on the same day as Gundogs at smaller shows, and some years ago we used to take an old lady along with us, with her min Poodle and Japanese Spitz. Occasionally the two classes clashed, and I used to get press ganged into handling one or the other.
It was because of that old lady, sadly long dead now, that we almost always attended the BUBA (British Utility Breeds Assocation) shows at Bingley Hall. It just happened that a friend of mine was on the show committee in those days, and first thing in the morning the word used to get passed round, "If anyone sees John, tell him to report to the Show Secratary." So I invariably ended up stewarding a ring. I remember I was stewarding Bulldogs one year and it was the first time my judge had awarded CC's and it was playing on his mind a bit. In the first class he dismissed the class one short in the lineup, which worried him still more. I told him "Dont worry, keep half an eye on me and keep pulling them out until I step forward with the rossettes." which worked very well. So remember when your getting all worried about going in the ring, Judges also get nervous and occasionally get it wrong as well.
Regards, John
PS. Looking forward to that cuppa Kate.
