Olly doesn't have a ball to play with - he has a lot of other things but I'd like to get him something he can retrieve - he chases his toys but never brings them back.

Does anyone have any recommendations? I assume tennis balls are not a good idea?

Thanks

Tennis balls are fine, pet shop tennis balls are typically rubbish though (they break in half really easily)

Proper tennis balls, wilson ,head etc are much sturdier.

For safety you can also buy 'kong' brand of tennis balls, sturdy and they do a large size (much harder to accidentally swallow mid air).

Other balls we like a 'huck' balls, these are pricey but super sturdy, throw well and float.
These fit in a chuckit too.

Basil thinks the best balls are ones you find Wink

Another vote for proper tennis balls, much cheaper in the long run as they last and last. Cheap doggy ones last on average one walk before they begin to split. Good ones tend to be lost before they split.

CJ does`t like tennisa balls and won`t even bother to chase one, he likes rubber ones but again not just any rubber one, it has to be the soft on the outside ones, he won`t touch the rock hard ones, he`s not fussy though, except where balls are concerned Laughing

The semi soft ones are great they float in water and I`ve known him persevere for ages to find one if he`s lost it, so mucg so he has me trying to get him to leave it cos we have more, but no it has to be THAT ball Laughing

mine aren't fussy, any ball will do... they love the kong squeaky ones though Very Happy

but like Basil, a ball they find even if its a rubber one and been chewed so theres only half left is by far the best ball ever Rolling Eyes

Mine love the rubber balls on a rope - Mins goes MAD for hers. She also likes the fact there's a rope attached as it means Mum can actually throw it a decent distance!

I got put off using tennis balls after reading about dogs choking, but I guess it depends on what size dog/ball. Although I can't throw them very far either! Laughing

I use these ones from P@H.

http://www.petsathome.com/shop/sponge-balls-dog-toy-6-pack-by-pets-at-home-32549

They go so much further than tennis balls. There really bouncy and fit into one of those ball launchers great.

However i wouldnt throw them too far just i case Olly decided he'd rather you fetched it Laughing
