I just opened my winter copy of Forward magazine and there is a lovely story about Neela.
I'm sure most of you will remember seeing the attack at Cricklewood Station on the News, where the Guide Dog was savaged by an off lead dog, while she was working. Well Neela has not only recovered from her injuries and nasty experience to resume her work but has been awarded the Guide Dog Bravery Statuette
I hope you can read about her on this link.... (page 25)
It seems to be an increasing problem - this "status" dog was off-lead but even on-lead they can attack and pull out of their owner's hand (happened to Megan). And since a great many Guide Dog owners have no access to car transport they have to hang about at bus stops and train stations, and walk a lot so are very vulnerable.
Not sure what the general public can do to help before the event except report dogs out on their own - they were lucky that this attack was caught on CCTV and the owner prosecuted. If the GD owner was alone there's NO chance of catching them is there?
