Hope it's ok to post this thread as so far there aren't any Labs, but I've seen a number of dogs go missing due to being spooked by fireworks/over the fireworks weekend, so am listing them in this thread, with their DogLost link and area. Will add more to this first post as I see them.
If you see a dog listed in your area, could you keep a look out and maybe put some posters up. There are some very worried owners out there and some rather scared dogs
Also, if you don't already, please do check DogLost regularly as sometimes it just takes one person to match up poster with a dog they see out wandering and dog and owner can be happily reunited. You can register at DogLost to receive email notifications of dogs missing in your area. Thank you

none in my area but i must admit i've never thought to check doglost website regularly incase any are in my area i will make an effort to do that from now on...
I really hope these dogs are found safe and well.... my cousins dog ran away on the 5th november about 5 years ago as he was terrified of fireworks and somehow in his panic managed to get out (we still have no idea how as his mum (also a black lab) was still in the house and hadn't escaped. Unfortunately he was found a day later after alot of people were out searching, laying close to the road, we initially thougt he had been hit by a car but it turned out that he had callapsed and died from the panic and stress of it
I really do think fireworks need to be banned apart from the organised displays
I really hope they are all found safe and well. It must be so frightening for them and their owners.
I joined in a search Saturday night for the dog across the road from us, she had got spooked and ran. Rufus came with me (he is totally unafraid of the fireworks, almost likes them) to search the woods out the back of my house and we found her! She only came to us to see Rufus so glad he was with me as well as the fact that it was 10.30 at night and fairly creepy although there was a few of us around. Can I just say if anyone does go looking for a dog take a spare lead with them. I didn't and had to just stay where I was until another searcher heard me (only a few minutes thankfully). She was a golden retriever so I couldn't just tuck her under my arm! A spare lead would have made it alot easier.
I will also try to keep an eye on the doglost website.
How awful, I hope they are all found safe and well and returned to their owners. The whole fireworks thing has gotten so out of hand. Years ago it used to be one night and you could take precautions but round here it lasts weeks now. You never know when it's safe to take the dogs out any more.
I've signed up to receive an email from doglost when a dog goes missing in my area which is a really good idea!
So sorry to see so many dogs spooked
On the spare lead front I bought a really cheap, thin 'showing' lead which takes up no room in my pocket so I've always got a spare lead when out with Luna at least. Have used it once when a dog escaped it's van at an agility comp! Useful!
And if Luna ever goes missing I would need LOTS of dogs to go out searching for her along with high-pitched excited sounding children! She'd have to pop out to say hi!
signed up too.
Unknown to us a visitor popped out for something and didn't shut door properly. 10 minutes later I asked where Solly was...went into the hall and saw the open door. Total panic set in!! luckily the cat was outside so he was still hanging around the front of the house sniffing around the cat ...total relief, it could have been so different. Hopefully if the same happened to someone else I could help
Well done Tina and Rufus for helping to find that dog
Lacey, very sad to hear about your cousin's dog I remember a young dog a year or two ago had a fit because of fireworks and very sadly died not long afterwards
I would very much love to see fireworks banned, other than for organised displays.
Just read of another dog who is missing after being spooked so about to update the first post
