Rolo has put on a tad bit of weight since his op's.
I feel him twice a day and have cut down his food and he get plenty of exercise.
Does anyone feed there lab (adult) more than twice a day? i was thinking of splitting what he has throughout the day into 3 meals like in humans raising the metabolism thus helping him to loose weight?
I feed the dogs twice a day. I know a lot of people do it only once but I am afraid of a stomach turning with all that food at the same time.
The problem if you feed him 3 times is that his stomach will hardly be empty which is not good if he moves too much....
If he is a bit overweighted, maybe the best would be to decrease the amount of food.
I feed Carly twice a day, however my vet nurse (at Fat Club) has suggested splitting her meals into 3 portions, as this may help her lose some weight..
(going to vets today so if she hasnt lost any, I'm def. thinking of doing this, while Im not working).
Mine get a little "Snackeral" for lunch, as well as their brekkie and dinner . It's only usually a dog bickie or a handful of kibble scattered about for them to find, but it just ties them over nicely until dinner time .
Mine get fed twice a day too and get either a carrot or doggy chew at lunchtime. If I am leaving them alone for the morning I leave them a frozen Kong with some of their breakfast kibble in it.
I feed Lottie 3 times a day.Her recommended amount is 350g but she gets only 300g...nasty mummy! But she gets a few treats plus apple, pear, carrot and banana. She is very petite, only 24 or 25kg and as fit as a fiddle. She comes on all my walks with me and my 8 walkie dogs so never ever stops until the evening!
Alfie is fed twice a day, bag says 350 for his weight he gets 300 split between breekie and dinner, he also has carrots, apple or whatever fruit and veg is kicking about at lunch time.
My sisters lab is over weight and the vet nurse suggested just giving her one meal day in the morning and veggies around dinner time, Mia has lost 3.5 kgs in 4 weeks with this method, no upping her exercise or anything just keeping her to what she was coz she was suffering with a sore hip at that point.
