Thanks for the kind words.

It is of course very upsetting when the pup is leaving but we take them on knowing that this day will come, always too soon!

JaniceH.......I hope to take another pup around spring time --Good luck to Usher for going to Atherton.

I have to say that I think it takes a very special person to rear and train guide dog pups. I certainly couldn't do it, but admire those who do. It is a selfless and dedicated thing to do, and I applaud you! x

I soooooo wish I had a pound for every person who comes up to me when out "walking" and says this Shocked

I am NOT a "selfless and dedicated " person Shocked

But have you ever known someone who is totally dependent and lacking in dignity for want of a "tool for the disabled"? Would you deny someone who needed it a wheelchair? Or a bionic arm?

PLEEEEASE change your perception of a Guide Dog as "just another pet". They LOVE what they do, they are VERY well looked after. They are VERY SPECIAL dogs who we should be SOOOO proud of. And in fact I am slightly ashamed of all the lovely labbies I have known/owned who were never asked for any more than being house-trained Embarassed

Forgive the rant Embarassed

But WHY could you NOT do it? To be part of that dog's life and training, to see it go on to be another person's lifeline - that takes something really special! Shocked

And by the Way you NEVER lose touch with them....
