Hello!
Mackie and I have just (well two weeks ago ) got back from holiday! We went on a little bit of a road trip....
I live in South Yorkshire, so we drove to Edinburgh (to see parents), to Gairloch (to see a friend), to Skye (to pick up a friend's wedding pressie, and go camping), to Roy Bridge (to meet a different friend for a mini camping meet), to Edinburgh (to have dinner with yet another friend), then it was my friend's wedding in Edinburgh (hence having to have bought the pressie!), and then my parents went on holiday, so we were ejected out their front door, to drive back home again......
I think it totalled about 1200miles by the time we got home again.... (yes, I do probably qualify as insane....)
Anyhoo.... it was Mackie's first serious camping trip! We've camped with a load of people before, and we've camped in my sister's garden, but we've never done the whole cooking at nose height and stuff before. What a star!! I think he was exhausted from all the excitement of travelling, and being with me all day, and going for BIG walks, and running around making friends with every one.... It's hard work being a labrador, you know!!
So here are a few of our holiday snaps - from my phone camera, but they've not come out too bad.
Our campsite on Skye, at Dunvegan.
Mackie surveying the campsite from his favourite place (his bed!)
Macleods Tables (in sunshine!!!!!) across the bay
Mackie about to go swimming in the falls behind the Sligachan Hotel (path to Glen Brittle)
......Mackie had the right name for touring Scotland
Yep! I'm originally from Edinburgh, so wanted a scottish-ish name for him. 'Mac' means 'son of' (like MacDonald is Son of Donald) - so he is Mackie Hunter (because he's my son ) Anyone who has dogs understands - it's the people at work who have kids (and no dogs) who think I'm a bit weird
Wow That is a BIG trip. Lookds like you had a great time camping.
Yep, the people at work do actually think I'm crazy! But hey, there's no mountains in Yorkshire, so we have to travel. The miles were worth it to see lots of friends - it's not my fault they all live at the other end of the country!
