It is with great sadness that we have to write to say we had to say our final goodbyes to our beautiful Benson this morning.

A lot of you will know we had been battling with him through severe epilepsy for the past few years and had come to the end of the road some months ago in terms of what drugs were left to help him.

After 5 blissful weeks fit free he started to cluster very badly at 2am yesterday morning. He was only get 2 - 5 hours break between seizures and had had 9 already by 6am this morning. So we made the horrendous decision that enough was enough and we were no longer being fair to him living for those precious 3 - 5 week intervals, when his clusters were lasting longer and longer, he was having more seizures per cluster each time round and his quality of life was worsening.

We took him to his favourite vet this morning, who is also a good friend and has known Benson all his life. She was almost as upset as us and shocked at how much he'd aged in a short time.

After a long talk she reassurred us that we were doing what was best, there was nothing more we could have pssibly done for him, his quality of life was diasappearing and we were running the risk of a grand mal occurring that would snatch him from us in the worst way. As such we took the painful decison to allow him to pass peacefully and in our arms.

Goodnight spud, we will always love you, are missing you incredibly and will never forget the few years of joy we had with you. Run free without fits over the bridge. Crying or Very sad

Leanne & Andy

x.

So sorry to hear you've had to say a final goodbye to Benson. It's one of the hardest but kindest decision you've just had to make. Run free at the bridge dear boy.

So very sorry Leanne and Andy. One of the most difficult decisions ever to make and I am sure it was the right one for Benson.

Enjoy your many good memories of a precious companion.

I'm so sorry to hear this. It may not seem it now but you know you've made the best decision for him and I'm sure the time you had with him was very special. Remember the good times and you'll smile through the tears when you think of him.

Andy and Leanne, I am so, so sorry to read this:(

Benson was such a lovely and brave boy and he was so very lucky to have you two as his owners.

It was a pleasure to have met him and walked with him on our NWGT's

Run free Benson, no more fits.

Thinking of you guys and hoping little Riley is ok.

Run free at the bridge Benson. What a terribly sad thing but absolutely the right decision.
