I'm not expecting huge interest because you're probably all worn out from the other local GTs this month but we've not been able to make any of them because we're in Weymouth 4th - 18th September and, apart from 19th September, i'm 99% sure that i'm not going to get any more time off work (at the weekend) until Christmas... So just wondered if there's any interest in a small GT on 19th September?
Any takers?
Details:
Just for anybody that hasn't been to Clumber Park before, click here for a map of the park.
We usually meet near the cafe - there's a nice patch of grass just off to the left side where we can wait without the dogs mobbing too many people for puppy cuddles!
There is a £5.20 charge for parking but if you have a National Trust card then parking is free, and the last two times that i've been to Clumber Park there's been nodody on the gates charging us to go in so we've just got in for free.
It's usually a very nice day out and dogs are very welcome (they even put bowls down at the cafe - although by the end of the day they're not always the cleanest ) although they have to be kept on a lead near any visitor facilities (cafe, toilets etc) and they can't go into any of the buildings. I don't think they're supposed to go for a splash in the lake... but I didn't want to be the one to tell them because they usually seem quite happy in there
We're planning to meet at 12pm
So far we have:
Kit/Chris with Bella and Jake
Carole with Tilly
Kate with Diesel

If Charlie is up to it then we will come along but will probably not walk as far as everyone else. The swimming will do him good though
(Chas says 'please don't laugh at his wiggly walk and baldy bum!!)
I'm partying at my 4 year old cousins birthday party down south
Luna is pleading to be allowed to come along to the party with me - soooo many sticky faces and hands will need cleaning, so much food will end up on the floor!! I'm going as a witch (fancy dress!) so she's even said she'd pretend to be my black cat Luna will be spoilt enough at my Mum and Dad's though!!!
Wendy - It will be nice to meet you and put a face to the name if you can come along but I understand that poor Charlie is still recovering - we promise not to laugh at his wiggley bum though! It would be nice if you're there aswell because you might be able to answer some of my questions regarding what to look out for in hips.... i'm quite worried about Jakes
Catherine and Diana - Sorry that you can't come but hope that you both have a nice holiday We're travelling back on the 18th
Laura - Hope that you have a nice time at the party! Poor Luna, she must be so frustrated that she can't go... especially as she even offered to lower her standards to cat-level
Carole - Will be nice to meet you and tilly if you can make it
Hiya, not sure if we can come as still working on Sam's health, must be the only lab who won't gain weight... I'm sure everyone thinks I starve him poor baby.
Why are you concerned about Jake's hips? Has he been having trouble, he's only such a youngster.
Anyway just wanted to let all the midlanders that they've improved Shipley Park. They've updated all the fencing, mown it all and generally had a clean and tidy. It's much better. Car park still needs some work and we didn't go near the visitor centre but it was a nice walk when we went there last night. Got totally ditched though, don't know who was more muddy, me, Mum or Sam... They've got this new wind turbine too which Sam was mesmerised by, so funny he was trying to jump up in the air to get the blades, hmm Sam don't think you'll ever be able to jump that high mate...! He loves things that blow about!
Sorry to hijack your thread there Kit I will go away now, forgive me.
Sorry to hear that Sam's still not putting on weight, hope he's feeling better soon! Jake misses him It was lovely seeing Jake play so calmly with another labby lol
I'm not sure about Jake's hips at the moment... he's always been a bit uncoordinated and when he walks/runs his hips wiggle side to side and the movement is very pronounced - I thought he'd grow out of it but he hasn't and he's nearly 7 months now.
He often walks as though he's trying to keep weight off his legs too, i'm not sure how to explain it...
And he's got a really poor sense of balance, he's always falling over - especially on tiled floors and if he's running, which just doesn't seem normal for a dog
