Does any one have their dog insurance with Directline, if so are you happy/not happy with them, some of the reviews say they take along time to pay out, have you found this?
TIA

They have payed out twice now with Perro.
I had no problems making a claim but they take about two to three weeks to send the cheque.
With Perro's TPLO it cost over £1800 and the specialist wanted paying straight away, he didn't deal direct with insurers. So it was beans on toast for a couple of weeks.
I've been reading that their premiums have gone up a bit this year. Mine is due in October so I will see then.
We have all insured with DL, 2 dogs and 2 cats! So far they have been really good. I asked for a claim form yesterday for Skits and it arrived today. The lassy on phone did say they were taking about 4-6 weeks at the mo to pay out and apologised in advance!!
Caro, I need to do it today, I need Hector insured for when we go away and Henry's extortionate insurance with the KC needs renewing 20/9/10 so I need to get his sorted before that runs out x

We've had an ongoing claim since Xmas, they take about 6-8 weeks on average (were much quicker pre xmas).Think I've sent 5 forms worth in total.
They have lost our form once.
But they've paid out and the call centre staff are polite and helpful so i'm happy enough.
I've had both my dogs insured with Direct Line. I claimed for Tess for some xrays before I had her pts. The vet dealt direct with them and didn't send the bill in until after she had died. They not only paid out within 2 weeks but sent me a letter saying they had cancelled the policy to save me from any additional costs (I had deliberately held off doing this in case they refused to pay out).
With Coco the vet again put in the claim for her pyometra spay and they paid out within a couple of weeks - no quibbling. I phoned them the morning after she was diagnosed to find out if she was covered and they sent a form straight out.
The downsides with Direct Line (apart from the huge increase in premiums that have been reported recently - ours is due in October) is that the maximum payout per condition over the lifetime of the dog is £6000 which isn't a huge amount. They also have maximum limits on various items eg £x maximum per night for hospitalisation. My vet's fees obviously fell within the limits but there was someone on here who has fallen foul of these rules and ended up not being totally covered.
I have always found them easy to deal with and not had any problems, they do some good introductory offers but be aware that you won't be covered for illnesses for the first 14 days. Online applications seem to get a lower premium than over the phone too.
I've just done the online quote, I'm paying £21 per month at the moment and the quote comes up at £16 without extra benefits or £19 with, and there's a 20% discount for doing it online. So mine shouldn't have gone up more then a couple of pounds - I don't think I have the extra benefits.
I think when you renew you can't do it online so you have to pay slightly more. If you go for the online discount in your second or subsequent year it is classed as starting a new policy so you have 14 days when you aren't covered and I suspect they would exclude any pre-existing conditions.
