Well we're all back from our hols. They say things come in 3's and thats true in our case.
We all set off for sandy balls last friday. Problem no:1 20 minutes into journey hubby's clutch goes on his car. Called out RAC who towed the car to the garage as the nice man couldn't do anything about it.
Luckily have a good friend who lent us his Shogun for the week, so 4 hrs later set off again.
Sandy Balls was really great, we could take Eva almost everywhere with us. We especially loved walking along the river where the kids could use the nets to catch fish.
The Fighting c***s pub (as recommended by LF member Jules) just before Sandy Balls did lovely food with so much to choose from we could happily of stayed for a few more weeks to try more things on the menu.
Did some fab days out and can recommend Dorset heavy horse centre. They allow well behaved dogs on leads and Eva thought the pigs were fab if alittle scary
Also Hengistbury head beach (another of Jules recommendations)
We also went to Moors Valley country park. Had a great day until just after lunch. Problem no:2 Went on the minature steam train with Eva and kids. As we get off my 7 yr old starts crying that something's in his eye. Wash it out but was still red and sore but I couldn't see anything in it.
Anyway we all go home but 3 hrs later he starts screaming again and won't open his eye . . . . speak to out of hrs Dr and get sent to A&E in Salisbury where we sit for 3 1/2 hrs.
The Dr found something lodged up under his top lid and only saw it when he inverted his top lid . . . . Yuk I can't stand eyes
Alittle problem no:3 Eva came into her very 1st season on weds, so her last 2 days on holiday she saw more of the caravan than she probably would of liked.
All in all I would definitely go back as the setting in the New Forest is just beautiful
This is Eva and my daughter Eleanor on Hengistbury head Beach.
This is Eva when we went for a walk to watch the sun go down.
Eva doing her most favourite thing in the world . . . Digging in the sand hills at Sandy balls( don't worry we filled in all the holes after)
My two children Eleanor and Louis looking for fish in the river.
Owwie for your poor boy's eye. That must have been so painful. And silly Eva, fancy coming into season in holiday . I suppose at least she didn't come in a couple of days before going, as that would have mucked things right up .
I'm glad you had a good time, shame about the few problems you had.
We have booked to go as well, just for the weekend Oct HT 22 Oct.
Hopefully not too cold by then, but decided to go for a lodge in the end just in case !! (that's my excuse )
Great pics. Will definatley try the places suggested. We are horse mad so will go to the Heavy Horse Centre.
Great to hear you had such a good time! We live in Bournemouth and it is a fab area for dog walking, walking round Hengistbury Head beach to the ice cream hut then riding back on the land train is a fave with my children!
We went to Moors Valley last weekend too!
We live on the edge of the New Forest and I can highly recommend this area for dog walking and dog friendly pubs. Catching the ferry over from Lymington to the Isle of Wight makes a good day out too.
