Lionel today, delightfully, rolled in pooh! I'm baffled - I thought they rolled in pooh to disguise themselves from predators or whatever.....well my boy (obviously not too bright ) rolled in his own pooh
So after several baby wipes to try and remove the offending globs, he still stunk to high heaven so off for a dip in the tub!
For starts Lionel has never been upstairs in our house, he knows its forbidden territory, so I put him on his lead and thought he would jump at the chance to explore....but oh no....he flattened himself to the floor and refused to budge! I had to drag him up the first few steps, coaxing him along until he got the idea.
THEN locked ourselves in the bathroom and proceeded to try and get Lionel the Lump into the tub. Nope, not having none of that Mum! Flat on the floor again I had to scoop him up, far easier typed than done! He sat shaking in the bath whilst I lathered and rinsed him. Then when it came to getting out of the bath - flat on the bottom of the bath refusing to move
All towel dried and smelling sweeter than Jean Paul Gautier's armpit, off we trot to the top of the stairs - Yup you guessed it, flat to the floor refusing to budge!
We finally made it down and I am now indulging in a glass of vino and Lionel has got a chew.....it was hard work you know!!
Just picturing trying to scoop a wet doggy off the bottom of the bath mel. Rather you than me! I admit that on the odd occasion Holly has needed a bath ive left it to hubby...kids suddenly needed me
I wish Holly was so bothered about the stairs though. She knows its a nono but this didnt stop her bounding up to lick my face when hubby left the gate open this morning...some lie in!!
Only you could have a Lab that doesn't like a bath, Mel. .
I have the opposite problem; Mojo loves it. She bounces around chasing the shower head, eating the bubbles and generally having a Labby fit. We usually end up wetter than her and so does the bathroom floor .
I know what it's like having to bath a reluctant dog though, as I had to bath an Old English Sheepdog once, after it had jumped in a stinky pond while I was walking her. She did that flat to the floor thing too . Gawd I thought I'd need a crane to get her in the tub .
I hope Lionel doesn't make a habit of poo rolling, else he may find the hose in the garden is a lot colder than the nice warm bath .
Lionel the Lump or Lionel the Pansy might be more appropriate!
I dont even know how much he weighs......hubby conveniently (sp?) disappeared out for the evening leaving me to it otherwise I would have got him to hold him on the scales as punishment for making me bath him!
Once he was out of the bath he did have a good old shake so the bathroom walls still got absolutely dripping wet.....luckily I'd sensibly changed into my 'decorating/gardening' trackie bottoms so it didnt matter about me being a drowned rat!
Alfie hasn't had a bath yet, he's had a shower though and that was a total nightmare, he didn't like it at all but i think he'd love a bath
If i remember correctly though, Lionel doesn't like water, does he? bless him, maybe he will have learnt not to roll in pooh unless he wants another bath
Lionel is currently not a water lover.....he skips round puddles when he's on his walks I have just discovered a place to take him walking though that has lots of lakes so I really want to encourage to have a dip every now and again as I think it will do his elbow lots of good!
It wasnt really what I would term a bath either.....its what my Mum used to call a 'Bingle Shingle' (god knows why! ) - an inch of water in the bath and then the shower head sprayed all over you!
I encouraged Alfie to go in the lakes when we first moved here but now everytime he goes for a walk he runs straight into the lakes and i have to dry him off twice everyday
