I'm supposed to be going on holiday from the 4th September - 18th September and initially my sister was going to watch the dogs, but she's now unavailable.

We looked into kennels, and we got a few recommendations on here but after looking around a few it really put me off leaving them in kennels. I know that all kennels aren't them same and it was probably just a bad experience but out of the few we viewed there's only one where i'd have left my dogs and they wanted £18.75 each per night, which is nearly £600 and I just can't afford that much right now Embarassed

We then looked at home-boarding and the two different places I contacted said that, for insurance/legal reasons, they can't take dogs under a certain age, which means they won't take Bella. I'm not sure if this is the same for all??

We asked friends and family and in the end we were going to pay a friend of mine to have them both (at my house) for the two weeks but she's just had her university timetables come through for the year and is due back earlier than she thought so she can't do it.

We're only a month away from going on holiday and i'm at the point now where i'm really considering just not going Sad But if I do that then I won't get any of it refunded as its so close to the date and it'll be a fair chunk of money down the drain Sad Embarassed

Is there anybody that could recommend an affordable home-boarding company that will take both dogs together and including one under 6 months?

Or is there anybody that would take the dogs for the two weeks if we were then able to dog-sit for you later on in the year/next year or if we could offer to pay? (We could potentially split them up, but would prefer not to.)

EDIT: To say that Bella will be 4.5 months and Jake will be 7 months old when we go.

Gosh I would gladly but couldnt have dogs that young as i work Monday-Friday. I hope you find someone to help though - you could also try posting your request on preloved as only members can respond so lessens the chance of it being a weirdo!

Also ask your vet and local pet shop if they could reccommend anyone but tell them how much you could pay so they know not to say something too expensive.

Mansfield is around 150 miles away from here. If you're still stuck just before you're ready to leave then send them my way. I'm sure we can cope with four for a couple of weeks Wink

Are they used to being left for a few hours a day? Are they crate trained, house trained?

We are in Kent, and may be able to take them if you can get them here!
We are considering starting a small home-boarding service, and having yours would be a good chance for us to see how it would work out.
Please let me know if you want to know anything about us!

Thanks for all the help Smile

I *think* that we actually might have it sorted this time! Very Happy Another friend of mine who didn't think she'd be able to help is going back to university later than she thought, so so she's said she'll stay here with them (for free!) if I can help her out by taking her some stuff up to uni in my car when I get back Very Happy Sounds like more than a fair deal to me... Wink

I'm really hoping that it all works out this time because i'm not actually sure we'd actually fit their crates etc in the car along with all our holiday stuff in order to drop them off somewhere.

It's nice to know that if we do end up with issues then somebody here might be willing to help us out Smile Wink
