I've had 2 collars split exactly the same as Charlie's ( above) I emailed the Dublin Dog Co & they were extremely helpful & sent new ones straight away. I've not used his last replacement yet as i'm a little concerned that it'll split like the last two did especially as the second collar was only a few month old & Bailey's not a puller.

I emailled Dublin Dog because I wanted one but with a clip not buckle and they told me they have a new variety coming out this summer so presumably soon. They will have clips and be a different material, recycled bottles I think, but still washable and colourful, the lady did send me a photo see my thread http://www.labradorforums.co.uk/modules.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=76918 I'm waiting for them to come out then I intend to buy one for Sam. Smile I hope that they won't split as easily as the original Dublins because I have read a lot of praise for them on LF generally and I do fancy a colourful, waterproof one this time!

My Obi spaniel was nearly run over when the 'D Ring' on his Dublin Dog collar snapped, he nearly ran straight into the road!
Yes he is a bit of a puller but this has never happened with any other collar. Obviously I emailed them and they did send me another one but to be honest I simply couldn't risk the same thing happening again.

Personally not a huge fan!

I had three and they were fine. Mind you, none of the dogs are pullers and they only wore the collars when out for a walk. I did attach their leads to them though. My sister bought one and hers split after 6 months. It had never had a lead attached to it but it was worn 24/7. So I think they are just a bit hit and miss.

I know they upgraded them to include a sort of mesh material but I'd still be very wary if I had a puller because of the stretching issue.

They are a good idea in principal I guess....on the right dog.

Hi, heard back from dublin dog and they are sending a replacement, apparently they have made some improvements and the collars are also now 2" longer for some reason. Will let you all know what differences I notice.

It definitely does sound as though they are rather hit and miss so fingers crossed this one will be good!

Thanks guys!

Hi, I received my replacement collar from Dublin Dog today and there are definite improvements, the collar is now 2 inches longer and much softer than before so therefore should be more flexible.

Very pleased!

We go through two Dublin collars a year...they always split in the same place - where the big D ring is which the lead attaches to. They are brilliant if your dog likes to swim and roll in anything remotely vile...they can be washed clean so easily. I might contact them as I've just had to take Beck's most recent one off as it's starting to split after 7 months wear which at £15.00 is poor really. I've just bought him a Wainwrights collar, not rubber but good sturdy material and nice to look at!
