Hi, I've had Murphy's dublin dog collar for 9 months and noticed yesterday that its splitting, he only wears it when he's out and I don't attach a lead to it so TBH I'm abit annoyed given how expensive they are!! I've emailed the company for their comments on this issue, as two friends of mine have also had the same problem.
Have others on here also had this problem or have we just been unlucky? Its put me off buying another incase the same thing happens again.
I don't have one but I remember some threads a while back re quality issues, the consensus was that dublin dogs customer service was aexcellent in replacing them and I believe they have updated the product too.
Fingers crossed you'll get a replacement that will be sturdier.
Ooooh wish I had seen the bit about them replacing them FOC, since we have just bought a new one after it splitting
I actually don't think I will buy another one once this one dies - although it is interesting to see Sarah's comment re them updating the collar, because the new one does seem stiffer somehow..
Our dog walker doesn't like them too much since they have a tendancy to stretch - but then again, much of that is down to the fact that I tend to have a dog that pulls!!
One other thing is that I waited in excess of 2 months for a backorder issue to be resolved!!
the first one i have no idea what happened to it! i was walking pop off lead, one min it was there, the next it was nowhere to be found! one angry email to dublin dog and there was a replacement in the post. i had had some correspondence with them before i even bought the collar to make sure it wouldn't stretch or spilt, i was assured neither would occur. this was back in october or november last year........
back in may/june the replacement collar we received, so our second collar started splitting at the holes, so again we emailed dublin dog to complain, sent pics of the splits. we were referred to the uk distributor, which is where we bought the original collar from back in october. he was quite unfriendly but said that they would replace the collar if we first sent it back to them and on receipt of the collar they would send us a replacement. that didn't go down too well seeing as we didn't have a spare collar for poppy to wear and didn't fancy buying one just for that purpose, we pointed that out and only had to send the damaged collar back once we had received the replacement. we also had to pay for the postage.
i wouldn't say the collars are totally rubbish, i'll see how long our current collar last before i make that judgement, but the customer service is not as good as it was.
Hi, I have enclosed a photo of the split in the collar with the email so will let you all know what response I get, I've contacted them via the official website dublindog.com so hope thats the right way to get in touch with them!
Theres been a couple folk round here had replacements no quibble by dealing directly with them.
We've recently had to lay Hudsons favourite Dublin Arrrrgyle to rest It suffered a fatal burst at the little metal bitty that goes into the holes after someone threw a retrieve over his head while he was on a line at a campsite!
I don't really grudge it as its had 2 years of wear and tear - worn Monday to Friday 9 to 5 sort of thing! I really miss it and will totally replace it when I get my act together! It has an odd knick or two in it, even a wee split, but it never gave. We never attach a lead to there collars though they are purely for show! Until we took up camping!!!

Both my girls wear Dublin Dog collars a lot of the time and I've not had problems.
Holly has gone from small size and worked upwards as she has grown older, Daisy has had hers for a couple of years. They do have leather collars as well and I swap them - Holly more than Daisy. However, I still love the Dublins when we go to the sea or muddy winter walks as they're so eay to clean. I have to say both dogs are walked on slip leads most of the time. The collars have withstood some quite rough puppy/big dog play, as you can see
Perhaps we've just been lucky.
I have had three dublin collars for Tia and she is only 2!!!! First one metal bit came out of where the buckle is so kept coming off!
2nd one just fell to bits.
3rd one another dog chewed off!!!!!!
She has a synethic one now, but could really do with a waterproof one and her one stinks. The great thing about dublin collars is that they just wash off really quickly.
