I got my M&S renewal this morning. I was paying £28 per month, but it has jumped to £55 per month Shocked Shocked I was rather shocked when I took the paperwork out of the envelope; thought I was seeing things. Stanley is only 3 years old and I've had a couple of very small claims this year. I live in London. This is obviously my problem..

I've just got a quote with Direct Line of:
Essential Policy £4000 per condition - 12 month limit
£15.56 with £80 excess

Advanced Policy £6000 per condition -
£23.72 with £80 excess

Does anyone have an advanced policy with Direct Line - is is any good?

oh gawd... not looking forward to getting my renewal through in the next couple of months with m&s then Sad it keeps going up loads each year and i can't even swop Sad

sorry no advice but i totally sympathise with how unfair it is that they can just increase the premuims by so much each year Sad

I have the Direct Line advanced policy for my boys, and have never had a problem.

But I've never claimed for Charlie (touch wood) and with Harvey I've only claimed smallish amounts. He does take Synoquin, and has done for years. They've always paid out for that Smile

It's so frustrating. I spent hours last year, getting quotes and reading through policies - thought I'd found a great one with M&S. They do provide a great service and quick payouts, but how can they justify an increase from £28 to £55, just like that!? £663 pa - they must be having a laugh Laughing

I've been checking out Animal Friends life long cover - a good quote - but reading some threads on here, they're not really tried and tested.

Thanks Fay. Unless I've misunderstood the policy wording, they don't appear to do lifelong cover though, is that right?

The only thing you have to think about if you do change is, whatever you have already claimed for for him won`t be covered with a new insurer.

I do agree though, a almost 50% hike in premiums is disgusting even for London, they have by the proverbial`s though knowing most people can`t change because of what they`ve claimed for.

I'd give m&s a call and see if they'll negotiate, that is outrageous.

We got Pascos renewal last week for M & S and its gone up from £17.99 to £24.99 a month. Considering how much we have claimed this year, I was expecting worse. Hudsons came today which is weird as they have the same renewal date! Anyway, his has gone from £17.99 to £20.99.

Don't understand why his has increased at all..... not claimed anything for him. Plus.. he is a year older than Pasco... sure his should have increased more???

I would love to know the formula they use it seems so random.

I'm going to ring them tomorrow and ask if they've made a 'mistake' Laughing I know they haven't, but I'll be interested to hear what they've got to say.

Hmm I'll have to have a read........ but they've been paying out for the Synaquin for about 4 years? So I'm thinking it covers lifetime on the condition up to a certain amount?
