Hi all,

Not sure if I even dare ask this question after reading a few other posts on harnesses but ..... here goes....... Wink

Halti harness (not head collar, but the body harness) or Walkezee body harness?

Firstly as many others poochies do, my darling Jack walks to heel 60%/40% of the time, it's only when we've just left the house that he's like a small tank pulling for high heaven. Now, for me and the OH this isn't so much of a problem as we're strong enough to keep him in check and not pull (as much!) however, the OH's mum has Jack 2 day's a week. She's only very little and isn't as strong as us, so has difficulty when first taking Jack out as he's so strong - she's even tried walking with treats to try and get him to heel but nothing works). She's doing us a huge favour walking him for us and I don't want her to hate doing it and feel like she has to. He's managed to pull her over a few times in the park now and it's getting to the point where i'm going to suggest her coming over to just keep him company for part of the day and he'll have to sacrifice his walk at lunch. It's not fair to put her in that situation. However, once he get's to the park and has his toilet time, he's a gold star on the lead!

So, leads me nicely into my questions....... I know Halti have a body harness, from what I can see, that control's the dog's body from the front clip. I assume that it works by when the dog pull's forward, he ends up doing a semi circle so can't pull, is supposed to realise he isn't going anywhere and eventually gives up? I think the Walkezee is of similar design/nature?

For all of you out there who use these, would you a) recommend them in the 1st place, b) have a preference or c) had any experiences that would put you off them?

I'm not even considering the head collars, ever, it's either body harness or nothing and carry on as we are.

Please don't think that we don't practice our heel work as we do, he's just passed silver so are working on gold at the moment and his heelwork off lead is brilliant (if I do say so myself!) it's just that initial 20 mins / half an hour until he get's his "off lead" time....

Thanks!

Hi Gemma

I have the walkezee so can only comment on that.

Dylan sounds just like Jack in that the pulling on the lead was not all the time and I worked really hard to getting him to walk nicely on his lead Very Happy which he did 80% of the time.

I would have persevered but what forced the issue was us going on holiday and my MIL being unable to hold him if he pulled.

Got the walkezee after Daisy_Glanebury recommended it on here intending it just for use by my MIL but on trying it out wow Shocked what a difference Very Happy

I have since used it regularly but this week have left it off to practice heel work again but much to my surprise the walkezee has taught him to walk to heal where he never would before Very Happy So as well as being brilliant to walk him on it's had the unexpected bonus of getting him to walk to heel without it Shocked Cool Laughing

Am attempting to follow Diane's thread on pulling but in the meantime I need something like that. How does it work and where can I get one??

really considering this aswell alfies main problem is during the start of the walk, or when walkin to the field. We are working on healwork but with alot of walking when we go on holiday in august obviously i dont want to spend the whole holiday being dragged or constantly telling him off. Just a question did you just buy the harness or the coupling attatchment, im thinking of getting the large .

well we measured Jack last night (for the large) for the walkezee but i've called numerous times today to pay for it and no answer, so that's why I posted the question with the halti as that's more readily available.

We just went for the harness but not the coupler, would it be worth getting?

I've just looked at the Halti harness and I can't see it being as effective as the Walkeeze because the chest strap is so high Confused

Correction!

Just called again and lady answered. She was very helpful, talked me through how to use it and the principles behind the design and how it helps you and your poochie. She's putting it in the post tonight so should have it for Saturday !! Wish us luck!

We too have used the Walkezee now for about 8 wks now and I can't recommend it enough. Eva's pulling is almost 0% now.

I got the harness when we had to leave her with parents while we went away for w'end. They were able to walk her without being pulled along no trouble.

We also have found that she is now walking so much better with just a collar/lead since using the walkezee.

I bought the harness and coupling device but have got on better with using just the harness.

Ours was from ebay which is the same seller as their website I think but saved a bit on postage Smile Smile
