We had a terrible experience today ! Shocked

We took Sasha out for a walk to a little market town - its extremely popular so a very busy road through it. We were just waiting to be served at a stall when Sasha jumped up for a cuddle from a child when her collar just snapped undone !! Evil or Very Mad Evil or Very Mad

We were so lucky that there were lots of people around and she didn't run straight into the road !! Sad Sad

I can't trust it anymore now so am taking it back tomorrow for a refund.

Will I be better with a buckle fastener ? Any suggestions would be welcome.

Gail

I had an identical experience with PAH harness, the clips are pathetic.

I always go buckle or use a Rogz heavy duty clip collar (has a clip and a lock and goes through the metal loop so it is really secure).

In Cadbury's first year we went through nine collars, all either snapped or the clip broke - most dog collars are rubbish.

I can just picture the scen, you must have been in a real panic. I use clip collars on all of my dogs but I use the Rogz ones which have a sliding lock.

And not just an isolated problem Gail, those clips wouldn't hold a fifteen year old chihuahua!

I do wonder how many people have lost their dogs because of using such collars.

I like the Rogz collars for exactly the reason Sophie explains. I know at the obedience club I go to, they always go on and on and on about how flimsy a lot of clip collars really are.

Another vote for Rogz collars here too. They are very well made, the fastener has a sliding lock but because of how they fit, even if they come unfastened they don't come off easily - the fastener threads through the lead ring before it fastens but can't come out of there when under tension.

Rogz has a lovely big ring to clip the lead to too, much easier than most fiddly little ones.

We have the bones on red design, there is a lovely bright blue one but no good for a girlie dog.
