Party Poppers are a very different noise though.

Just as a warning really. My two Weimaraners were fine out on the shoot with shots being fired all around them, but were terrified of party poppers let off at home Shocked .

I take your point Jill but the same can apply to anything, indoors or outdoors or echo from a building can all alter a sound or cause problems.
As you know we use primers from a cartridge at working tests fired from a shotgun. nothing really sounds remotley like the real thing we just have to get the dog used to as many sounds as possible without frightning them.
