Hi All
Right some of you know ive just taken ownership (i like to call it custody) of zak the 18month old lab from my ex wooooppp!
He has always paid the insurance from the kennel club and its £32.95 a month. i want to obviously do best by my boy but i'm wondering if there are any cheaper around?
We have just got our insurance from argos, its about £15 per month for a 'for life' policy, covers £7k vet fees per year per condition. Don't know how it will turn out but a lot cheaper than most others I looked at but it was one of the insurance companies recommended to me. Good luck with the search it's a nightmare!
Funnily enough I have spent all night reading the policy summaries for Sainsbury's, Direct Line, KC, Petplan... to see which is best for price and cover etc. My excuse is that I am a Lawyer and reading everything is in my nature
I have gone with Sainsbury's as for £19.60 pcm they cover £7500 per condition with no time conditions, and they even appear to cover tick and flea treatments excluding first treat! They also cover complementary therapies which some insurers don't.
So, that's my choice - and they also give you 12 months for the price of 9, and Nectar points after payment of the full policy (if paying by DD) and if there are no claims.
I didnt go with Direct Line which was initially my first choice as in their policy schedule they say they will not cover any vet fees which is for treatment they don't think is "reasonable" - that's too open for interpretation for my liking.
Sainsbury's pet insurance is underwritten by AXA fyi.
does anyone know the benefits of the kc, health care plan one? im sorry im rubbish at the complicated stuff.
i posted some pics on the post about my issue, im gradually uploading to photobucket. see signature of him at xmas wearing tinsel he nicked from the tree. i have a brill one of today which hes arm in bandage, not nice because he has it but its a funny one...ill upload.
i still havent recieved the paperwork its really annoying i saw him today and he was like 'yeah it should be there' like he knows haha thicko
We have Direct Line for about £22 per month but we're stuck with them as we will probably have a few pre-existing conditions now and would hate to be excluded in future.
Beware of changing companies, there might be things that aren't covered if you have any history with the vets, though because you are changing the name on the policy you will probably be classed as a new customer wherever you go.
I have been with Direct Line for many years. They pay the vet direct which I like. Some of the cheaper companies expect you to pay up front and then claim back but with a big bill that can be difficult.
