Thanks for your replies. Do Marks and spencer pay direct to the vet? Are they a good insurance company?

We had to ask M&S to pay the specialist directly as we didn't have the money at the time - they did - but we had to sign an undertaking to say we would pay if there was any issue with the claim.

Likewise, the rest of mine are with More Than - and currently got an ongoing claim that is settled directly.

£4,000 wouldn't have covered Ben's bills. We are £7,000 with M&S. Had to claim a lot for Ben and they've always been fantastic.

I spent half a day solidly looking at and comparing quotes from insurance companies.

I settled with M and S on their premier £7k policy too having decided that £4k was not enough.

They have a 24 hour vet line for free too, so if you have a problem in the middle of the night you can ring them first before deciding what to do for the best. I have made 2 claims and both times they paid out with a couple of days.
