  |
|
Hi
I am just looking through the minefield that is "pet insurance"
Do any of you have Petplan insurance ? If so why do you think it is better than some of the other Life Long insurances available ?
I have been looking at PetPlan and Greenbee (which is John Lewis).
PetPlan have quoted £36 pm for £12,000 vets fees + £90 excess.
Greenbee have quoted £18 pm for £5000 vets fees + £75 excess.
I also asked for quotes for a 5 year old and a 10 year old dog.
PP was £36 (same) for 5 year old and £39 for 10 year old.
GB was £22 for 5 year old and £41 for 10 year old.
I can see that PP is more consistent but what other considerartions should I be looking at not just cost.
Both of these companies cover hydrotherapy just in case we need it !!
All comments will be welcome please.

I am with Petplan Lifelong. Currently we're paying £23 per month which covers the 12000 fees with a 90 excess. Rates vary according to postcode - we're very rural.
Decided on Petplan because I had a lot of high recommendations on fast payout and less quibbling than other companies said people had used. It also got a very good writeup in Which? and...some other publication I can't recall.

From what I've heard Petplan are very good at paying out quickly and many vets deal direct with them. £90 excess is quite high but the total amount payable is also very good.
It's swings and roundabouts. You really have to think that you will stay with the same company for the whole of the dog's life, once you have something put on your record at the vets it will become an exemption if you ever change company.

im with PP lifelong too and while lulu's monthly payments have gone up considerably since claiming for her hip replacement i have to say they have been very good at paying out quickly and with no fuss. But i have no idea which would be best to go for for you hun! i find it all a bit overwhelming tbh lol

I rang them today and they said that the premiums did not go up on individuals claiming. They said it was done countrywide on a statistical basis.
I might ring them again on that point !!
