Last question... lol... does that mean its a pretty good pedigree or is it quite common to have that much FTCH and show stock in there?
The question I always feel I want to ask in this kind of breeding is "Why?" That's not trying to be funny, but a genuine interest. By and large a Field Trials person would not move outside FT stock and a die in the wool show person would stick to show bred dogs. Then there are people like Di on here who are trying to breed dual purpose dogs, show people looking to have a bit of fun at a shoot during the winter and working people trying to improve the looks. So there can be many good reasons for this breeding. But of course, there is always the breeding to the dog next door for no reason other than it was convenient. I do like to see that thought has gone into any mating.
My Anna was a show bitch put to a working dog. The owner of the dam showed but her son worked the dogs around their farm and wanted to improve the working ability. I was looking for a good looking worker and Anna's been all that and more. Now at 12 years old she still doesn't look bad to me.
Ohhh I see, it would be strange for them to register some progeny and not others wouldn't it?
Sadly no - this is more common by some breeders than you might thing

I was told that jake's parents were health tested but never got copies of certificates and because I didn't know what I was looking for I don't even know if I saw genuine certificates of the results and can only remember that one of the parents had a 6 in the score...
Those would most likely be the grand-parents scores

Anna does look fantastic, especially for the age!
If i'm completely honest, I can't see Jake ever being more than a pet and at this time we don't have plans to show him or work him - although I do have an interest in agility. However, I do find looking at his history to be very interesting and if i'm honest I was wondering the same thing.
Because I saw a fair amount of red on one side, and virtually none on the other, it did make me wonder whether it was just a convenience mating or whether some more thought had gone into it. I thought your answer about it having a lot of show might have meant that more thought did go into it after all, but your latest response just confused me more (In a good way!)
