I have Ruby with Petplan and am paying £40+ per month and Tom with Argos pet insurance £7000 lifetime cover £18 per month.

I am going to swap Ruby over to Argos when her's is due for renewal.

My pointer is with Marks and Spencer's lifetime policy, costs me £25 per month, they've always paid out promptly with no problems. Lucan I have insured with Axa, practically the same policy as M&S, costs £19 per month, can't say what they're like for paying out as I've not had to claim.

I have found Direct Line fine to deal with. The £6000 max per condition isn't an awful lot though if your dog needs an operation and you need to be aware that they have some maximum payments which they don't publicise. If you have an expensive vet you might find that they aren't willing to pay the full price for some treatment. It was only when I made a claim for Coco when she had pyometra that they told me about the maximum payments for tests, hospitalisation etc. I know someone else on here fell foul of this and ended up not getting their full bill paid.

On the whole I am happy with them.

we are with AXA , which seems a good policy , Max is two and we have only claimed once , they paid a cheque within two weeks , and we pay £18.00 per month , this a "for life" policy which i was told was a must to have by another dog owner.
