Hi
I have a 7 month black lab and he was on purina beta when I got him from the breeder. I came to realise that the ingredients in this food is appalling and full of rubbish.
I did some seraching on the internet for natural dog foods and came across Symply. It seems expensive at first sight however because of the goodness in it, you don't have to feed as much. My labs coat is in excellent condition and he isn't as hyper as he used to be when on purina.
I hadn't ever heard of this food but am wondering if anyone else uses this food at all and what they think of it?
There are so many foods out there, it is so difficult to know which is the most suitable for your dog.
look forward to hearing from you lovely lab owners
I am mighty confused by the food debate on here.
Fed Sable, my last black girl, on JWB (and she looked fantastic on it) until at 10 she went on hunger strike rather than eat any more!
Inca gets Royal Canin Junior Labrador (because her breeder used RC) and looks fantastic on that....but it's vv expensive, has corn in it and most people on here seem to avoid it.
I got a 2kg trial bag of Symply, which, on paper, looks better than JWB, Burns, Skinners, Barking Heads, RC as it has a very high dried meat content (compared to moist meat before the water is taken out) and also has much more Omega 3 and 6. It's cheaper than RC (not difficult, admittedly) Has anyone tried it? I too would be interested to know.

It tends to be sold only by independent pet food suppliers and also by Pets Corner.
I’ve been feeding it for a month or so now to my 9 year old lab (the normal adult, not the senior) and my 13 year old cat (the cat food). Both of them seem to have increased energy levels, but in a nice way, not overly-hyper and both of their coats have become much softer. They both seem to love the taste of it. My younger dog was left finishing off some Skinners and I’ve hesitated to swap him over as I’m not sure that I can cope if he has *more* energy than he currently has…..
We've just moved Harvey on to Symply large breed puppy, as JWB didn't seem to ve agreeing with him. Only been on it for 4 days, but so far so good. He seems to love it, and I like the fact it's clear what's in it and also has a high meat content.

Our girl is 3 and has been on Symply Lamb and rice from approx 9 mths. She had been on Royal Canin and the Pet Shop advised the change as her coat was slightly scurfy. Have never looked back. She's shiny and sleek, full of energy and happy in every way! An extra plus is that when dogs are on better brands their bodies take all they need and a lot less waste comes out! Great, if like me, you prefer to pick up small parcels!

Hi, I went on a pack walk at Salcey forest in Northampton and was given the spiel by the Symply rep Charlie who advised me to change my dogs food from Burns to Symply as it would be better for his sensitive stomach. I stupidly bought a 15kg bag, slowly introduced it in with his food until completely on Symply. Within 2 days of starting to use Symply my poor dog had terrible runs, I know they can get slight tummy upsets when changing food but this carried on throughout the bag. My poor boy lost weight, his coat lost condition and he just looked depressed. I changed him straight back on to Burns and he is back to his old self again now. I strongly advise that you do not change your dogs food if they are happy on it, especially not on to Symply. It makes you wonder why it is only stocked in Pets Corner!!
Not all dogs suit all foods and for a dog with a sensitive stomach a new diet would have to be introduced very slowly. The bags are actually 12kg not 15kg and it would take me a whole bag before I was feeding 100% of the new food.
My Inca does fantastically well on Symply. I bask in the reflected glory from her shiny coat and all the praise we get. I know quite a number of black lab owners round here who feed Symply....particularly those who I have to ask what they're feeding their dogs with because the coat looks so good. It has much higher meat content than foods such as James Wellbeloved and with Royal Canin she had soft stools.
There are a number of other other premium foods of course, but I won't be trying those in the forseeable future because I don't need to.
I would be very careful re. advising all dog owners to steer clear of a (premium) dog food in the light of your dog's reaction to it. I wouldn't myself post your last sentence in a public forum (let alone join a public forum purely to post it) because it could be defamatory....
FioM, I think that is a bit harsh, Chambers was giving his opinion about a dog food, which this post seemed to be asking for.
As you say all dog food do not suit all dogs, hence my feelings are if your dogs are thriving on a food, then don't change cos someone tells you something else is better, [ ie, if it aint broke don't try to fix it ]
By the way mine are on Burns at it works fine for them, but I do know from posts on here that it does not suit all, the Symply food does sound good though for some.
