Well my two Weimy's lived all there lives on Chappie Sue. They had super sensitive stomachs and it was all they could tolerate.
Everyone that saw them used to comment on what super condition they were in. They were shown, competed in obedience, working trials and at 7 started going out on the shoot all on Chappie.
Have to say I am now a chappie fan!! Dream when she had her problems last novemeber was in such a bad way with her tum and I tried everything but any dry food upset her tum so badly......so she now just has 3/4 giant can of wet chappie twice a day, she looks great on it, poos are good. And my adults are all fed a mixture of half chappie and half JWB, and they all look fab on it. The same as you Sue, anyone having pups will be switched to a better food, Oscar for us, as she comes into season.
And at the moment I have 6 lots of dogs in the kennels all having chappie, dry, so its not just us using it. There was a time everyone came in with Flippin bakers...now its chappie and its so much better!
Yay! Good result. I have been praising chappie (tinned variety) for ages. Tarks would have runny poos at least once a week and now they are perfect. Added bonus is that he loves it.
It's funny how I used to think I had to buy very expensive food for him or I wasnt doing the right thing. Took a bit of convincing to get me to change though.
Thanks Jill, Tracey and Pat I have always been aware of the good points of Chappie tinned - we used to feed it to our GSD and Corgi's years ago - but my guilt has been lifted
If so many people are feeding Chappie and their dogs are doing well on it - then there is clearly far more to it than price
Well thanx to another let down of not getting skinners and running out rapidly fast i bought chappie dry food and can honestly say Alfie is looking fab. He wolves it down, skinners was lying on the bowl til i lifted it, and is grubbing for food during the day.
Well I can add to the pro-chappie debate; because it's the only thing that works for Frank.
I tried lots of the premium foods but Frank was exactly the same on them all. Some he'd be bad on all the time, the others he'd be okay for a week, then we'd have 3-4 days of diarrhoea. And throughout when his poo's were good, they were very soft, and he'd have terrible wind.
Lastly, I tried Burns. It sorted the wind; and his skin picked up no end - but the cycle of diarrhoea continued. So in the end, I switched him to Chappie. He gets fed 1/2 tin at night with the dry chappie food. I'd fed Chappie previously, but only the wet. Frank did well from day one on Chappie; it was incredible. He did so well on it I put Rosie on it too.
When I tell people I feed chappie; there are those that look down their noses that I'm feeding my dogs one of the cheapest foods on the market. Usually people ask me if I've tried something else. The ingredients on chappie don't read well; certainly not as well as the Hills or another premium food... yet I am always being praised on how healthy my dogs look and how shiny their coats are. I would recommend chappie to anyone.

I`m a complete newbie and this is my first post. We have just taken on a 7yr black lab (Leonard) from a local rescue centre. My wife noticed the tins of Chappie and I mentioned that when my parents had golden retrievers we used to feed them Master McGrath which was just honking!
We decided to buy some Bakers as we thought it would be good for the dog, how wrong could we be. After only a couple of meals, out dog managed to peeble dash most of the streets around where we live, you couldn`t even begin to pick up the mess.
We reverted to the Chappie and he`s much improved altho still has the odd upset. I`m now looking to track down this dry-chappie and try to mix the two as Leonard is rather windy!
have to say i love the chappie wet but not the dried as it`s basically the same ingredients as pedigree dried under a different name (or at least was when i last checked) i went right off pedigree after i gave my springer some and the hallway was like a minefield the next day so just personal preferance really i must be weird though as i adore the smell of the wet chappie i think it`s all to do with the fact my springer i grew up with eating it and bringing back memories of her!
Our Jessie was a bit picky about food when we first got her - she's a rescue - which is amazing for a lab (though she's a little bit collie and that's the bit. Our vet recommended mixing in a little bit of tinned Chappie with her dry food which we do when she's not eating properly and she LOVES it. She's on Skinners Salmon mostly but she never eats it all up and we don't over feed her. So I always have a tin of Chappie in and am thinking of putting her on the mix permanently as it's guaranteed eating the whole meal. At the moment I'm putting Metacam in her food, so absolutely need her to eat it!
