I've read through a couple of threads about tinned chappie being good for sensitive tums. Has anyone had positive results with the dry chappie? (The smell of tinned dog food makes me heave).

We have tried the dry chappie and wouldn't recommend it.
I found Diesels coat was dull and had bad skin.
He became constipated on it too. He never finished a bowl when we used it either. Confused

We have moved on to nature diet now, have you tried it for Alfie?
I found it worked great for Diesels delicate tum.

No the Chappie kibble is not the same as tinned Chappie I'm afraid.

I admit it stinks Shocked, but it definitely works especially for oldies. Smile

Thanks Kate, did Nature diet firm Diesel up? What had you tried him on before?

Alfie is on Hills i/d at the moment after a bout of diahorrea and what a difference it has made, but it's ridiculously expensive!

Thanks Jill - Alfie is only 3, so I would face (God willing) another 12 years of opening stinky tins! Just can't face it....

Jenson is on dried chappie, and he does great on it. He had terrible colitis on other dried foods and he will not eat the tinned chappie despite him being a really greedy dog.

He loves the dried stuff and his poos are now nice and firm for the first time in ages. He has been on it 5 months now, has gained a little weight at last and looks better than ever.

The girls are on skinners duck and rice, but it just does not suit him.

You have my sympathies - the smell of dirty cat litter trays makes me heave and for a while I looked after people's dogs and cats for a living.

I was often to be seen outside in the back garden trying not to heave my boots up Shocked Wink .

Dry Chappie was the only food Lyra could eat from when we got her. Everything else upset her tummy, she thrived on it glorious coat and and a good tum.

Personally, I think not every food suits every dog so you may find it best to try something for a month at a time.

As someone else said I guess every dog is different and it really is trial and error I think.I gave my last ole girl chappied dried as was recommended by my vet as she had severe Pancreatitus and it worked well with her and wasn't costly either compared to the food that I had been giving her up to then.

Just thought I'd update on this. Finally changed Alfie over to dried chappie last week and his poos are the firmest I've ever seen them. A peculiar orange colour, but beautifully solid Laughing

The ingredients still make me want to cry though: Meat derivatives Sad

So after trying Burns, JWB, Oscar, Skinners we might have found the solution to Alfie's dodgy tummy.
