Has anyone tried these? I know there are flat ones and rolled leather ones on the market, but have seen one advert which states "not suitable for dogs that pull on the lead". (Max does occasionally)

Just wondering whether they are generally better than the traditional rope slip leads. If anyone has any advice, please let me know.

I've got leather slip leads for my two, they don't have stops on, but I've never found that a problem. I like the weight and feel of them, and much prefer them to the rope ones. Neither of mine pull very much, just occasionally, but I haven't found that a problem with the rolled leather. I can imagine if you've got a dog that pulls like a steam train it will pretty much throttle itself with a slip lead, particularly with the rolled leather ones that will dig in, but I'm sure with the way slip leads work (and other leads for that matter), the dog needs to be walking with a loose lead generally, otherwise there's no way of checking them if the lead is taut?

Mine were from Natasha (Contender) on here, I think she still does them, if you pm her I'm sure she'll let you know.

This is quite interesting as Lottie is in need of a new lead so this is one I'd consider. It would be intersting to see the opinion on these.

Love Meg and Lottie xxxx

Thanks for that, It,s the weight that I would prefer too. Max is the same, pulls occasionally and yes, pulling with any slip lead will throttle (daft dogs) Very Happy but I just wondered whether the flat leather were more beneficial, even though we are used to the rope ones (rolled).

I will check with Natasha on availability thanks

Cheers, I noticed the flat leather ones on the hilost site and that made me think about why they were not offering the rolled leather ones. I had read somewhere (cant remember where, that they were better for the dog than the rolled ones and was just trying to find out if anyone had tried either or preferably - both! Very Happy

I have both and love them both Very Happy . With six dogs they all get well used.

That doesn't help much does it?

To be perfectly honest if you have a dog that pulls sometimes you would be better with Helen (Hilost) ones I think, but that's just my personal opinion.

I've had a rolled leather one in the past... was a waste of money

Got a flat leather one from Hi-lost very pleased with it! Would happily reccomend it Smile

I have the soft leather flat ones from Hi-lost too and they're great Very Happy The only thing is, they're not so easy to stuff in your pocket and the leather twists the wrong way round sometimes - but that's no biggie at all. I'm delighted with mine. I think they look and feel much much better than rope leads.

I went for the slighter wider one so that I could get the dogs names on them Embarassed
