Hi There All You Get Togethers Very Happy

As many of you know, we are currently in the process of organising the big day out in the form of our very own Get Together for 2006.

Last years Get Together was a great success, all the events went down a storm and it was great to put names to faces, not only that but a lot of money was raised for Charity - both Cancer Research UK & The Guide Dogs For The Blind Association.

We are now looking for ideas from all our members, of activites/events that you would like to take place on the day. Please bear in mind the funds pot.. we will amend the ticket price cost to the amount that is spent, so everything that can keep costs down is great.

We welcome all ideas, we'll then put them to the Get Together Team to decide what will happen on the big day!

We've already got a great dog show planned (more info will be coming soon) Wink , a proposed fancy dress competition (kindly offered by Hazel - Kimba's mum) - perhaps any events such as the walk that took place last year, you would like to see again, or anything else that springs to mind - please pop it all in this thread. Wink

I would also like to get some entertainment for the children organised, this year i will be looking for a volunteer/s - so anyone with any ideas please let us know. Last year we had Scooby Dooby Doo.... lol... (thx Stuart) perhaps this year we could have another cuddly favourite!

Thanks everyone, we look forward to all your ideas. Cool

Julie xxx

How about your face painting again for the kids Julie, at least I think it was you that did it, went down well with the little (and the BIG) kids I think Very Happy

And maybe the games that were the most popular for the Labs, like the Labrafooty and the sausage and spoon race Lab style Laughing

I assume you`ll be asking Guide Dogs for the Blind to come again if they can?, and one of the Lab Rescues Very Happy

I'd definitely enjoyed the walk and the dogs loved the games.
The fun dog show is great.
The paddling pool.
More doggy games like bobbing for apples/ tennis balls. The sauasge and spoon was great, labrafooty. Maybe more games?

The guide dogs are great.
Getting all the Rescues on LLR to have a stand and offer information would be great too and raise funds.

PAT dogs as a stand?

Kennel Club good citizen as a stand?

Definitely advertising beyond the forums is ideal as there is a much wider audience waiting to be targeted.

I am against the cake sale again as I don't think the response was that great, unless everyone sweared to buy them all Surprised

Just as well we're looking for a new car - a bigger one is definitely needed!

Don't know how this would work, but what about 'back to basics' training session? With so many people getting stuck on lead training and trying out different harnesses etc it would be a great chance to try different ones out and see how to start lead training. Or retrieval - that one gets asked a lot too. Also there is clicker training(I have never seen this in action - hence why I am dubious about trying) etc

There must be someone going to the GT who could help. Or is this too complicated to do for one day?

I love the idea of some kind of training workshop/stand. Also, everything that took place last year was great and I definitely think the walk because it gives people the chance to get sponsorship.

All the best,
Nic

I'll buy some prizes for the fancy dress as i dont think its fair if Kimba wins anything really as she has many outfits. I'll still dress her up though. Maybe an entrance fee and all money going to guide dogs/cancer charity?

Maybe Kimba could even pick the winner, the first dog to get rugby tackled wins LOL.

Love Hazelx

Haven't heard from this morning tv prog but when i last phoned to see what was happening they are not sure whether they want to film a cremation or pet burial instead. Now anyone agreeing to that, well i say no more.... im not that mad for fame........
