Hi, I used Burns High Energy Lamb with Amber and it was brilliant. I would definitely use it again. Its hypoallergenic and she grew at a good steady rate rather than shooting up, it looks expensive but you don't have to feed as much as you do with some other brands so it actually works out very economical.
Whatever brand you choose buy a small bag first just to check it agrees with your pup.
Heather - I'm not sure what side of Stirling you're on, but the animal feed place in Alloa sells Skinners from stock (the wee industrial place near the football ground) if you did fancy trying it. They deliver too I think.
Been looking at puppy foods today & there is so much to choose from , is there any that you would recommend. we was going to choose Arden Grange because our other lab was on it. The sales assistant recommended a new range Collards which is hypo-allergenic the same as AG, is this why she recommended it ! we only put our other lab on it because of skin problems.
Skinners Field Trial Puppy, but you might not be able to get it from a normal pet shop. I get it from an animal feeds merchant. Skye has a lovely shiny coat and hard poo's (and not loads of it either). She was originally on JWB but more came out the other end than went in, I'm sure. Skinners is also a lot cheaper because with it being for working dogs it's VAT free. I think that you will find most people on here do like Skinners.
I think its a bit of trial and error, what suits one doesn't seem to suit another, I found the best for my dogs is JWB, I tried skinners field & trial and they lost all condition, dull coarse coats, flaking skin
I also found Iams & fish4dogs to be very good
