....... Before you got your lovely Lab or Labs! Very Happy

Yep, it's competition time!

All you need to do to enter is to tell us what was the best piece of advice you were given before getting your Lab or Labs!

The advice could have come from anywhere or anyone... please keep it short and sweet If you can..

Simply pop your 'best advice' in a reply to this thread!

We will run this competition for a few weeks or so and then we will put our 10 favourite replies in a poll for you all to vote for your favourite!

There will be a 1st, 2nd & 3rd prize, including a years free subscription to Lab Forums, a Lab Forums t-shirt and a couple of other goodies!

I'm sure a would-be Lab owner will also find this thread useful! Very Happy

Good luck everyone - i look forward to reading all your replies!

I declare the competition OPEN!

I was advised to get in touch with the breeder I got Jazz from. The person giving me that advice is a boxer breeder/handler/judge, and knows nothing about labs, but her advice was brilliant. Jazz's breeder had a litter at the time, with a spare yellow bitch. And the rest, as they say, is history.

I can't give you the best as I didn't get any but i can definitely tell you the worst:

From the breeder where I got Benson & George "if you go to work you'll have to get two so they keep each other company" and I fell for that. If only I had known about LF back then Smile

The best advice I was given was from my vet. She told me to make sure I bought from health tested parents and then explained what I should be looking for (certificates, scores, etc).

A good friend of mine told me 'you give input into your dog, love, care but with a firm 'ish hand and you will always have a heartbeat at your feet'!

Well it was kind of the best piece of advice in a way....

'Don't get a chocolate one they're nuts!' and as you can see I took no notice....and I wouldn't change him for the world Very Happy
