I don't know if you agree Hayley (I know you are heavily involved in fitness as a career) - but I do find the showring is a great leveller - because the minute your dog is out there amongst the other Labs - you immediately see if they re carrying too much or too little weight.
I agree totally. The show ring is now, rightly focussed on conformation and balance. An overweight dog will not move right as, an underweight dog will not look right.
A fat dog cannot track up. An under weight dog will not have the outline..
The only way you can have a fit dog is through hard work, exercise and nutrition.
Edited to add... Hattie can look right one day and overweight the next. It is so hard to get it right.
