Well after recently posting about going to Wales, the OH has now suggested Scotland too as a place for us and Happy to visit... again, neither of us have ever been but would ideally be looking for wild and wooly beaches, fab pubs and not much else really!!!
We would love to get a cottage on a beach somewhere and would be looking for either easter for 4 days or July for a week!
So Scottish peeps, where should we be heading too and where should we avoid.. and a general 'top pointy bit' helps as I've no idea where place names are.. (i'm sorry, i'm rubbish!!) please help!!!!
oooh West Coast for sure.... Speak to Karen, she's rented a cottage or two on the west coast.
There are LOADS of lovely places to go, unpopulated and rugged. I'm dying to go to Orkney some of Carleys photos just pull at my heart strings. So Orkneys another place.
As a starter taster sorta thing though, I'd say the west coast.

The north west... remote, fab beaches with no one on them, although may be slightly busier in July... and midges too on a still day Only thing is will take ages to drive there. Takes us about 4 hours from where I am.
Trina, email me if you want any info on the North West area. I can highly recommend where I was recently on Skye... heaven. Although there wasn't a pub there
Fife has nice sandy beaches (huge one called Tentsmuir, near St Andrews) and fishing villages... that's the bit of land that sticks out just north of Edinburgh
As Fee says, so many lovely places to choose from !
Another West Coast fan. Isle of Skye is a fave of mine, and a lovely drive up through the highlands to get there. I love love love Glencoe, but that's more mountains and glens than coastal.
The area that I'm from is also a favourite with the tourists - St Andrews and East Neuk of Fife. As someone said above, Fife's the bit that sticks out on map just north of Edinburgh, and it looks like a scottie dogs head.
We had a lovely week in Dumfries and Galloway the summer that we got Pasco - infact we collected him on the way home!
Its not quite as scenic as the West.
We had a LOVELY cottage up by Elgin this year... lovely beaches at Findhorn bay. GREAT dog friendly cottage and in the middle of no where so the dogs got free reign. Great for training there were even phezzie pens behind the cottage!
