Hey everyone!
Bella and Rocky are going for there first walks in the morning! I cant wait ill be sure to post lots of photos as im sure it will all be very interesting.
They are going for seperate walks but i was just wondering how do i go about if a stranger dog approaches them? I know i may sound silly but im a bit nervous about it...
Im going to take a pocket sized toy and a few treats with me. They've been practicing their loose lead training in the snowy garden today which was rather amusing with their nice new leads =)
I'm sure everything will go absolutely fine, they really don't like to wander too far at first, and stay close by. You have to gauge each new dog differently, not all dogs like a pup jumping up at them, so just keep your eyes open. If they're anything like either of my two, they used to just roll on their backs as soon as a bigger/older dog came along, Indie still does from time to time, but that's because she's a flirt
It's Buddy's first walk in the morning too
Just been out to get his harness 'cause he wasn't having any of that collar and lead malarky
I look forward to seeing the photos .
Don't know if there'll be any of my tyke as I have to go to 6th form, and I'll be walking him alone
How long are you walking yours for?
Try not to worry about meeting dogs as it could pass on to pup/s.
Pups give off a soecial scent that makes *most* balanced adult dogs forgive them a bit of puppy rough play and generally you should find adult dogs interested but gentle and friendly because of that.
Having said that it does seem like a fair few adult dogs just haven't met pups and can get quite giddy which can be scarey for pup, but it's all part of their learning.
For a first doggy meet I tend to take mine to the busiest dog area in town - not because i want to overwhelm pup but because I know unfriendly dogs just aren't walked in these sort of busy dog off leash places usually.
You can shout over, 'is your dog friendly?' if it makes you feel better and you're not sure.
If pup runs away try not to reassure or reward it but crouch down and encourage them over....I'd thnk with having two pups though you're will already be pretty confident anyway

That's exactly what my Bran did up until he was about 9 months old! The funniest time he did it was when there were a group of about a dozen different little terriers being walked by a few older women - he ran into the middle of the group then threw himself upside down
Good luck and enjoy it

oo how old is Buddy then?
As mine are 3 months they can only go for 15 mins walk a day so im going to take them for just the 1 walk tomo as they run around the garden like maniacs alot anyway so just the one walk to get them use to it.
Im soo excited! Thank you everyone for the advice =)
Bella did the whole laying on her back and rolling around when she meet my brothers dogs lol i did think it was a tad odd.
Loon still does the roll over on her back thing! 21months old!
Hope all of you and your pups enjoy their first walks! Luna LOVES meeting puppies, it seems to shock her into realising she's the 'big' girl! They hang off her ears, mouth her tail and she laps it all up with a sappy grin on her face!
