Does anyone have a red dingo harness please? Is there somewhere to attach a dog tag to?

The vet wants Basil to more to a harness from a collar for the time being. We have an ancol car harness but it has a dangly bit so no good when off leash.
I know he could wear a collar and tag with the harness but I'd like to remove any temptation for anyone to grab him by the collar.

I've not got one but just had a look and I guess you could attach a tag to the front ring or the ring where you attach the lead like you would on a collar.

Just thinking though the red dingo harness goes over the head so may still put pressure on his neck? Would a harness that he steps into be better?

Thanks Kim,

The layout of that pic looks exactly the same as a step in harness though.

Our ancol one is step in but when on it has a bit that goes around the neck, a bit that goes around the chest and a joining strip IYSWIM?

I think the ring bit is at the back not the neck area, but it does look like you could fasten a tag there doesn't it.

Yeah the ring bit goes at the back or you could attach it to the ring on the chest. They are a similar lay out but the different harnesses I have put on dogs at work the step in ones usually sit lower down the back further away from the neck area as oppose to ones like the red dingo that goes over the head. One like this:

I may be wrong Embarassed

Thanks Kim, I like them too Very Happy , they are easy to put on and if I get black it will be less obvious he's wearing one (I dont like to see big dogs in harnesses, too much apparel)

But what I 'like' isn't really the point now. I can see that other pic harness would sit less on the neck.
But then this is a neck/back/spine issue so I'm not sure where is ideal, thankfully he's not a puller but I suppose the idea is to spread any exertion if he did.

I wonder if I should just leave be with the ancol car harness, that must be designed to absorb shock and not put too much on any one area I suppose Confused

Where do you work btw? I'm guessing a doggy place if you fit harnesses.

Sarah - I did loads of harness research as was asked to walk Z on one due to her cataracts. I ended up going for the happydog one:
http://www.sheilaharper.co.uk/onlineshop_list.aspx?categoryref=5

it puts no pressure on neck but does go behind front legs - however you can buy each of the 3 elements separately to ensure a good fit. Tag would have to go onto ring that to which lead is attached.

Yes I would prob just stick with the ancol car harness, I know which one you mean and as you say you are not sure where exactly the problem is so prob best to spread the load, glad he is not a puller.

I work in a pet shop for a morning and also at a hydrotherapy pool 3 days a week and alot seem to come wearing harnesses that I have to take on and off Very Happy
